Character Summary:

As a Squad Leader, Ian is firm but fair.  He doesn’t tolerate backchat or inherent laziness but, in the same breath, he would give his life if it meant saving any man or woman under his command.  Having served in the military since Year 831 (that’s 14 years at the time of Reluctant Heroes’ first season) he is an experienced, committed and compassionate soldier.  Combat is one of his greatest strengths, as he is a responsive, observant and athletic individual unafraid to take necessary risks.  The members of his squad would require an aptitude for utilising ODM gear and an ability to use the Wall itself for manoeuvres when engaging Titans.

Of course, no man is perfect and Ian isn’t without weakness.  He has a taste need for alcohol and, although he doesn’t indulge during working hours, there will be days he dons his rose-embroidered jacket whilst nursing a hangover.  Ian is also capable of being blunt to the point of being rude - his tendency to remain impassive certainly doesn’t help matters - and all the while, bubbling beneath the surface, there is a man still working through old hurts and troubles.

Missions:

Squad Dietrich’s duties vary from the mundane - walking the Walls, inspecting for wear, servicing the cannon - to the outright dangerous.  On their patrols of Wall Rose, the squad is often called upon to dispatch the Titans that cluster on humanity’s perimeter.

Silke Falkenrath is looking for a squad, and Ian's seems to fit her mindset of what a 'squad' really means.

She's hardworking and very dedicated to her job, performing no less than a respectable soldier willing to follow out orders. Most of her responsibility comes from a sense of justice, but most importantly, it is also to ensure her son stays safe while he finishes out his training as a Cadet.

If Silke were to join Ian's squad, she would be a member who'd take care to carry out his command, but also ensure he stays on his feet as well. A man like Ian probably needs to be reminded every so often when the drink starts to get to him.

Ahh, I would be delighted to have Silke on Ian's squad!  He would admire her sense of justice, as well as her commitment to her family and the Garrison.  I imagine she will keep him on his toes as far as his drinking is concerned - let's be honest, he could use the reminders!

I shall drop you a PM or hit you up on Discord, to talk possible plots. :)

That definitely works with me, whichever you feel the best medium! I'd love to hash out some potential plots with Ian and Silke. Goodness knows they may have shared a drink or two together after work hours, built some camaraderie, and have quite a few stories to tell.

Do hit me up when you get a chance! Hashing out the details to ideas is always fun.
