Cadets / Re: Sasha Braus, reporting for duty!
« on: May 25, 2018, 12:04:43 AM »
Ok I am on my phone, so bear with me,  but I figured I should throw Kieran your way. I have a few ideas for them.

1.) Kieran gets in trouble all the time, so I imagine they might end up serving some sort of punishment together at some point, which would be interesting.

2.) He helps Sasha steal some food. He'd do it if he was hungry himself or if she offers to cover something for him.

3.) I planning on writing a starter for the survival hike, if you wanted to throw Sasha into that, we could plot something out where Kieran ignores her intuition or something and he can be like "shit should have listened to her".

Kieran definitely would say something about her politeness and inability to stand up for herself. He'd also appreciate her antics behind the instructors' backs. He'd totally give her a high five for that. He'd even slip her food because he finds it amusing since he works hard to piss off the instructors. Anyways, I might come back later with more ideas. I wanted to throw something at you.

I am just humping here real quick.  I think you guys pretty much figured it out, but I do think that pixis is the commander of the garrison overall, and then there are commanders beneath him for each district. Pretty sure the conversation between Erwin and Pixis on the wall would not have been such a big deal if Pixis didn't have control of the whole Garrison. There was a statement made (i believe) about the commanders being seen talking together. Also, there is the time Pixis was playing chess with a noble (probably for funding reasons or whatever). Also there is that big situation I can't discuss for spoiler reasons but includes testing peoples, reactions. I always pictured Pixis, Erwin, and Nile as the three commanders. The Garrison is huge and would need people in charge in each district.

Also I picture Kitz outranking Ian, Rico and Mitabi mostly because he was in control during the whole Eren titan ordeal and basically ignored Ian. Unless he just assumed command in the chaos and the others followed for the sake of keeping shit together.  Though in terms of becoming the next leader, Kitz would probably be quickly overlooked for the fact he lets fear control his decisions and yeah.

I may come back and comment on the ranking stuff later. But I have been dying to add my two cents.

Mitabi Jarnach: Grade A

When he graduated, he was a B/B+, but over the years, with some maturing, and many hours of practice, he has improved his ODM skills, which has earned him a spot on the elite guard. He is slower than most other soldiers, but where he lacks in speed, he makes up in strength. His style is simple and direct and he comes in like a wrecking ball when flying through the air. While he works well in teams, Mitabi tends to worry and focus too much on his squadmates, which one day will be his downfall if he is not careful. He also has a tendency to yell insults at titans while engaging them.

Kieran Ashmiller: Grade B-

It is hard to give Kieran Ashmiller a grade with his ODM as he lacks the motivation to do well in anything related to his cadet training. A slacker, most of his time spent with the ODM has been half-hearted attempts to go along with training, which has frustrated his instructors immensely. Every now and then, Kieran gives them a glimpse of what he is capable of.  His style is reminiscent of his old life. The time spent running, swinging, jumping, and climbing in Quinta to escape authorities or pissed off men who just had their coin stolen from them, has carried over to his ODM style. He is quick and surprisingly quiet when using his gear. His strong suit is his ability to stick tricky landings

His blade work can be considered passable. While his teamwork is lousy, unless paired with the few cadets he gets along with, his approach to ODM is better suited for teamwork. His ODM strategy mirrors strategies used in Quinta as street urchin and thief. He prefers to lure and ambush rather than take an enemy head-on. He does not pay enough attention to gas consumption.

After Utopia, he will focus more on improving his skill.

Nanaba: Grade A

Her natural ability paired with fierce determination has made Nanaba an exceptional ODM user. Graceful, her moments flow seamlessly into each other, allowing her to move quickly and smoothly while using her gear. She is well balanced in terms of speed and strength, which allows her to deliver deep cuts. Adaptable and dependable, she can assist or deliver the kill herself. She works best with a team, always trying to adapt to the needs of the current squad, but can take on a target on her own if needed, though she prefers not to.  She thinks before she attacks, but is not the one to hesitate when she needs to act. Despite her quiet nature, Nanaba can deliver commands just as well as she follows commands. She works hard to be there for her fellow Corps members in whatever capacity they need her.

She is not one for flair in her manoeuvres, although she will flip or spin as needed to move smoothly to the next position. The is always a purpose to her manoeuvres and actions.  She is in tune with her gear,  she pays attention to the dullness of her blades and the amount of gas she has left.

I have two characters to throw at you.

Of course, I have Rosto!

Rosto and Roselyn have a history, obviously. I'd love to explore their past and how she came to work for him.

Kieran and Roselyn

Kieran was one of Rosto's little street rats in Quinta, one that Rosto took under his wing. These two would have interacted with each other quite often. Anything with these two will have to be past threads, as Roselyn and Rosto left Kieran behind in Quinta when Wall Maria fell.

Thread ideas?

Perhaps a thread where Kieran turns in his loot for the day and keeps a few coins to himself. Maybe Roselyn finds out?

Roselyn giving young Kieran fighting tips?

I will add more soon.

Absences / Just a heads up!
« on: March 31, 2018, 10:51:26 PM »
I was going to post this later, but I realized I am going to be busy a lot sooner than I originally planned.

This is a sort of leave of absence starting in April and will go through May 10ish. I might be posting regularly or I might not, so I want to give you all a heads up.

This month I have my site project for student teaching (and I haven't even started working on it), a few school projects, my bf coming home (it has been 6 months since I have seen him), finals and a play that opens the first week of May.  I am going to try to reply to my threads as often as I can. Group posts will be my priority though.

Garrison / Re: Blue Eyes...What's The Matter? (Arkin's Plotter)
« on: March 16, 2018, 12:17:53 AM »
Oh my goodness yes yes yes yes. I love both of those ideas. Mitabi is going to see a lot of Arkin and then  all sudden the nighttime visitors stop  because you know who and feels.

Yus he needs to come to Arkin for much needed assistance for flowers and plants.

And I shall get a thread started for Nanaba and Arkin

Oh? What are your Arkin and Mitabi ideas? I am curious now!

Akdjfjsnc Nanaba is flattered <3

I can start a thread for them if you like

I am going to start with Nanaba and Arkin and throw Mitabi at him later.

They both grew up in Trost, so maybe past thread??? Before their cadet days? Nanaba's dad was a drunk and usually took his anger out on her, sooo maybe Arkin finds her somewhere on a street with some wounds and helps patch her up?

For current times, she'd most certainly seek him out for salves and such for out in the field.

No preference as usual. :P I have no problem putting it on my to do list if you prefer. If you want to tackle it I am cool with that as well.

I know I am helpful :p

Yus I love this idea.  Maybe he is placed with Farran because the instructors noticed that engineering and mechanics is  one of the classes he does not cause trouble  and is doing well in. They hope that Farran can help steer Kieran in the right direction.

They send a heads up notice, you are getting a project child. Good luck.   Xp

There might be some attitude in the beginning but I am sure Farran can capture his interest and tone down the 'tude.

Survey Corps / Re: Squad Leader Wait!! [Moblit's Plotter]

Cause I have been stalking....if we ever do a titan capture with the garrison I volunteer Mitabi to help out...he would have quite the reaction to that idea.

Other note...I want to throw Nanaba at you, and shall return with some Moblit and Nanaba idears when I am not on my phone.

Worldbuilding / Re: Phrases, Slang & Terms

A few terms and phrases - These would be used by lower class individuals. Will post more later.

Shut your gob - means shut up or shut your mouth

Cracknob - idiot, crazy, madman

Doxie - female prostitute

Worldbuilding / Re: Population Control
« on: March 03, 2018, 06:54:37 PM »
Ok this may come off a bit disjointed but here are some thoughts on this

Since I think of AOT as setting medievalesque setting, I think most nobles/higher class women have wet nurses. Meaning, noble women employ a servant, who has had a baby recently (and still able to nurse),  to take care of the newborn.  In medieval times, breastfeeding and caring for a baby was seen as an inconvenience to nobles, so they'd just pass the baby off to a wet nurse, who probably turned into the child's nanny as they got older, and returned to their normal routines as soon as possible. Anyways, the point here is that this would serve as another incentive for lower class women to have children. They would have to pop out children so that they could care for their mistress' babes, and their lives would be much more comfortable and secure than other women of their class.

I agree with sooo much of this Draco, I don't know where to start.

Let's start with under the table adoptions, brothel baby factories, and kidnapping (Because this relates to Rosto and Kieran).

I originally planned on having Rosto adopt him and a few others orphans to use them for his dirty work.  I totally have an idea for Rosto's wanted now. This a great business idea. We already know that Mikasa was targetted by kidnappers to sell as a slave to someone in the capital, so I totally see this as a thing.

Rations are RH's equivalent to welfare, which can I can see easily being abused (not that the capital would care much because uh, free labor). For families, more children equal more benefits. So what if they can't take care of the children, they only have to make sure they stick around for 12 years. We have seen throughout history governments encourage either bigger or smaller family, so it is safe to say that in this world, the government does the same thing. The nobles have to ensure their livelihoods are protected somehow.

So the government probably can care less if all these children are slum dogs and little criminals because they can easily be conscripted into military service (OR even labor on government-owned farms (which we have seen in AOT OR perhaps even to the factories that make the blades for the ODM gear...I am sure early deaths from inhaling all that bad stuff). Of course, the particularly bad apples get the ax.

The risk of childbirth should be high if we are going to stick with the medievalesque theme. So for female soldiers, I am sure there is a mixture of herbs that they can take to get rid of the baby if they so choose. Whether this is encouraged or not by the military, I  don't know.

IF the government/military wants to encourage military men to marry young, they could give out pay raises for married men. This is a huge problem in US military today; people get married for the sake of the extra money.  Obviously, the military doesn't want their females to pop out children, besides the fact it is dangerous, it makes them useless for active duty (especially for the scouts). Judging by what I have seen on AOT, women are valued and held as equals on the battlefield, although this does not mean the same benefits are given to male and female soldiers.
